Who, What, Why?
My Story in a Nutshell
Hello, my name is Michelle Caruso.
I’m an ATLien working in the Hollywood of the south (Atlanta, GA) for about 10 years now.
I started as an extra, then On Set PA, then Art PA (first gig was Robert Zemecki’s Flight staring Denzel Washington). Then I moved up to Art Department Coordinator, a position I’ve been working in for 8 years. Projects included working on Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver and Season 2 and 3 of Stranger Things.
And then…I realized I wasn’t fully committing to why I got in this crazy industry in the first place, which is to Write and Direct.
Where I’ve been & Where I’m going
I’ve been taking a step back to work a bit less so I can develop my projects. I’ve heard from a lot of people that they want to know how I work so consistently as below the line crew.
As I’ve been networking people are not only supportive of where I’m going, but are interested in where I’ve been…which I’ve honestly taken for granted.
It’s provided me a way to make money in an industry I want to work in, learning how crews function, what everyone’s role is, and gaining some connections I’m looking to continue building.
Why Now?
In light of COVID19 I’ve decided to really hunker down and take the time to breakdown what I did to work very consistently in the film industry. With so many streaming services, there is a ton of content being pumped out now than ever before. It’s a great time to learn what you don’t know so once the gates re-open, you’ll be a primed hiring candidate.
By starting a blog/vlog, I’m also aiming to document what I’m doing to reach my next level.
Please let me know any questions you have or thoughts for topics to cover.
Thank you!
